Thanksgiving Pie Countdown: Cheddar Crusted Apple Pie

I've loved the pairing of cheddar cheese and apples since I was a kid snacking on sandwiched slices after school. This pie combines the two into a delightfully sweet and savory dish.

There is grated cheddar cheese in the pie crust, which causes it to brown more quickly and creates an addictive, toasted cheese taste. To match the savory cheese crust, the filling uses firm tart apples and less sugar and cinnamon than typical apple pies. The resulting pie is perfect to please both pie lovers and cheese course aficionados alike.
