Sarabeth Levine has been a presence in the NYC sweets scene since the 1980s, when she began selling her now famous Orange-Apricot Marmalade. Back before it was cool to sell cupcakes, jam, or jerky from your home, Sarabeth was making her family's 200-year old marmalade recipe out of her kitchen and selling it to local NYC food shops.
Due to popular demand, Sarabeth and her husband/business partner Bill Levine opened the first location of Sarabeth's bakery in 1983 on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The couple now own seven restaurants in New York City, and the empire has continued to grow with Sarabeth's outposts in Key West, Florida, and Tokyo.
Whether you're in Tribeca or Tokyo, it can be difficult to decide which of Sarabeth's delectable pastries to order. Sarabeth herself even had a hard time choosing her favorites when we asked for her top picks ("It's like picking out your favorite child!"). After some deliberation, Sarabeth was able to come up with a list of her favorite 5 items at her restaurants; click through the slideshow to see them all.
