In Santa Fe, New Mexico, there is a holey mecca of deliciousness to be found at Whoo's Donuts. It's right next to ChocolateSmith, the well known handmade dark chocolate maker which is operated by the same owners. You'll know the shop by the sign outside that says "Donuts/Coins", though I'm not sure exactly what business goes with the "coins" sign.
While all of the crispy-crusted cake donuts [sic] are crave-worthy, you'll find a real shining star in the Lemon Pistachio White Chocolate variety. The extreme sweetness of the white chocolate is tempered by a hint of lemon zest and beautifully complemented by the salty pistachio bits. When all of these flavors come together in a bite, and the perfect crunch of the craggy donut exterior gives way to its fluffy but substantial interior, you may experience donut nirvana.
This donut is so good that I wouldn't hesitate to shell over the fairly high $2.03 plus tax price tag. But truthfully, they somehow taste even better on Mondays, when Whoo's offers all of their donuts for just $1 each. Go early, though—they're only open until they run out of donuts, and they sell out fast!
