Just in time for the holiday season, Starbucks is offering an adorable seasonal cookie, the Frosted Snowman. This fella is about the size of a large man's palm and is available wearing either a jaunty red or blue scarf.
Starbucks describes him as being frosted, but in fact, his snowy hue comes from melted white chocolate, not icing. Alas, this frosting choice immediately placed me squarely in the anti-Snowman-cookie camp, as I cannot abide white chocolate, but if you like it, read on.
The cookie part of this guy is quite nice: super buttery and crumbly, but not dry at all, and not too sweet. But brace yourself for that white chocolate coating, which packs quite a wallop of sugar. Even if I did like white chocolate, I think I'd be slightly put off by the variety on this cookie: it had a faint, false fruit flavor aftertaste which was a bit jarring.
Starbucks's new snowman cookie, dangling from a snazzy ribbon, would be an adorable addition to your holiday tree. I'm just not so sure he belongs on your holiday plate. What about you, have you tried this new cookie? What did you think?
