I'll admit I'm a sucker for anything with sprinkles. They're so cheery, and I find the texture—particularly of nonpareils—to be addictively crunchy. Compound that with my twin loves (cookies and frosting) and it's no surprise that I beelined past quite a few good-looking scones and cupcakes to pick up these sandwich cookies at Batter Bakery.
The exterior cookies are soft, with a cocoa heavy, oreo-like flavor. Inside is a sweet chocolate icing that has a nice thick consistency and a chocolate flavor that almost exactly matches the flavor of the cookie. The sprinkles add that desired crunch which plays against the otherwise super soft cookie.
There is a time and a place for a fat whoopie pie, and that time is when you're craving a piece of cake. These sandwich cookies are a nice medium between a regular cookie and a whoopie pie: they're not too big and the cookie to frosting ratio is in perfect balance. They come in bags of three and you'll be hard pressed to eat just one.
