pie (but you probably already knew that) so when the two get together we're bound to get excited. And that's exactly what Sarah Billingsley and Rachel Wharton have done in their new cookbook, Handheld Pies.

Handheld Pies deals in pies both sweet and a little savory, offering up personal sized interpretations of standard 9- and 12-inchers. There are free-form pies (think Pop-Tarts-style) pies, double crust pies, and adorable pies baked in individual jars, each perfectly portioned to a generous single serving. In addition to creating their own unique personal pie creations, Billingsley and Wharton have adapted recipes from their favorite bakeries into handheld form.

For the next two weeks we're going to be embracing the mini pie waters with recipes from Handheld Pies. We'll kick off with breakfast-perfect Orange Marmalade-Mascarpone Pop-Tarts and Farmers Cheese and Thyme Pies and fill Mason jars with whipped cream-topped Coconut Cream Pie.

Win A Copy!

Thanks to the generous folks over at Chronicle Books, we are giving away five (5) copies of Handheld Pies this week.

All you have to do is tell us a pie that you'd like to miniaturize in the comments section below.
