You could be forgiven for thinking that the Chili Lime Tequila Tortilla Brittle from Anette's Chocolates were peanut brittle on first glance. Deep golden pieces with pale nutty bits? Looks about right.
But when you get a crunchy bite, the brittle's half-dozen elements hit you all at once. White and yellow tortilla chip shards jut through a base of sparingly sweet, tequila-laced brittle, joined by toasted pumpkin seeds and sprinkled in lime and chile de arbol. The chili is more of a sensation than a taste, but it's spice that seems right at home with tortilla chips and lime. And that sour hit of lime, really, is what makes the brittle—keeping it refreshing enough that you want another piece. And another. It's possibly the best thing to happen to salt and sweet since the chocolate-covered pretzel.
