You've probably seen the Reese's eggs around Easter—or at least the 1.2-ounce-sized eggs. They're basically a Reese's Cup but different because, you know, they're egg-shaped. But we came across this behemoth of a six-ounce egg and couldn't resist trying it, especially after so many of you raved about the Reese's Reester Bunny after our chocolate bunny tasting.
So it's not as heavy as an actual ostrich egg—according to the San Diego Zoo's website those are more like three pounds—but it's definitely bigger than your average Cadbury Creme Egg or other egg-shaped Easter candies. Because of the dome-like top part, the ratio of chocolate shell to peanut butter innards is much more in peanut butter's favor.
And if you know the Reese's version of peanut butter, you know it's different from the grocery store kind in a jar. It's candy-sweet and almost crumbly, not especially smooth. If you're into that—and if the Cadbury creme ooziness has always weirded you out a bit—you'll like this. There are no big surprises: it's essentially the same two Reese's players (chocolate and peanut butter) and they taste like they always do, except it's so mondo, you get about eight Reese's Cups-worth in one egg.
