We have to hand it to them; when it comes to ice cream with mix-ins, Ben & Jerry's is hard to beat. And because we like to dream big at SE* we asked ourselves, if you could have B&J's create any flavor you wanted, what would it be? And no, the realities of science need not apply.
It's just a fact of life: after cooking multiple courses, picking plates, and buying booze, dessert can be a dinner party afterthought. So if there's no time to whip up a spectacular, themed last course, what does the SE team serve its guests? Find out.
We're all waiting impatiently for our fruit pies and summery sorbets to come into season, but in the meantime, we didn't do too bad eating dessert in March. The theme was innovation, with falafel filled with chocolate, tiramisu made into a cupcake, a lemon tart made with liquidized almond shortbread, and more.

What desserts make the Serious Eats team shudder? You may be surprised.
We know January is typically a month to lay off the sweets, but not only did we not avoid sugar, we totally crushed it, eating a variety of delicious, interesting treats that ranged from sweetened sticky rice in Chiang Mai to a very glorious pile of birthday doughnuts.

September is a bridge between summer and fall, so it's no surprise we welcomed autumn and its produce with apple cider doughnuts and poached pears and also enjoyed the last warm days with a few scoops of ice cream. We had these, plus chocolate "salami", homemade wedding cake, and more.
