"I know this one will piss a lot of people off, but: banana pudding. First and foremost, I hate bananas. They are the worst. They do not belong in any of my food, least of all in my dessert. Second, I have textural issues with many smooth, gelatinous things, including...pudding. So apart from the Nilla Wafers, there's really nothing redeeming about banana pudding as far as I'm concerned."—Jamie Feldmar, Managing Editor
"I have never had an Indian dessert I've liked. It comes in two categories: too sweet or too perfumey. I don't want the thing I'm about to put in my mouth to smell like something that should be dabbed on my grandmother's neck."—J.Kenji Lopez-Alt, Chief Creative Officer
"Is there anything more boring than hard candy? Let's see: Step 1, unwrap candy. Step 2, put it in your mouth. Step 3, sit there and wait for more exciting to happen to you.
There is no step 4, because step 4 never comes, because nothing exciting happens to you when you eat hard candy. Until you bite down on it and get splinters in your gums, and you know what? Screw this. I'm getting some gummy worms."—Max Falkowitz, NY Editor
"It's not that I never eat jelly beans (I'll pretty much eat anything if it's staring me in the face) but my reaction always ranges from God I wish I was eating something else right now to dear God why did you make this into a flavor? I hate the texture (sticks in my teeth) and even the best ones, the almost juicy ones, make me wish I was eating something actually juicy instead."—Carrie Vasios, Sweets Editor
"I'm generally not crazy about choux pastry, and out of all the major choux pastries, éclairs are my least favorite. The filling-to-pastry ratio is usually too skewed towards the pastry for my liking, and when the pastry isn't fresh (as tends to be the case, in my experience), it tastes like bleeuuh. Even worse is if the éclair is all prettily decorated, thus overpromising on the lack of delights within. ...So I guess what I'm looking for is a fat, humble éclair."—Robyn Lee, Staff Photographer and Editor, A Hamburger Today
Black Forest Cake
"I love (or am open to) most desserts, but Black Forest cake can straight-up suck it. Chocolate cake is delicious. Cherries are delicious. That whipped cream frosting stuff is ok, but together? Blech. It's the only cake that's worse than no cake at all."—Erin Jackson, AHT Contributing Editor
