The Ferry Building Marketplace is one of San Francisco's biggest tourist attractions, and rightly so. On Saturdays, the full technicolor breadth of California's produce is on display at the weekly farmers market, and you can get local seafood, wine, olive oil, chocolate (and much more) every day of the week.
The prepared foods are just as varied, and just as delicious, so I make it a habit to stop in as often as possible to see what's new. In terms of sweets alone, the options range from desserts at full service restaurants like the Slanted Door or Bouli Bar to cookies with coffee (hello, Blue Bottle) to excellent chocolate at Recchiuti and gluten-free treats at Mariposa.
This is far from an exhaustive list of the great sweets for sale, but if you're a local looking for something new or a visitor looking for something extraordinary, here are the sweets I'm eating right now.
