If you thought that only cookies could be made in one bowl, think again. Over the course of the year, this column has showed that all it takes is one bowl to make everything from rich pudding cakes to airy scones.
While all of the treats made this year were ridiculously easy, here are my top picks from 2013.
Brown Sugar Berry Crumble Muffins
These muffins are amazing because they're full of moist berries. The all-brown sugar recipe results in a much richer flavor than your average muffin.
Pineapple Coconut Muffins
Another muffin favorite, these are ridiculously moist from the pineapple. There's also copious amounts of coconut: coconut milk and chopped coconut in the batter, and the coconut sprinkled on top toasts up just right in the oven.
Chewy Brown Sugar Cookies
These big, coffeehouse-style cookies are super soft and chewy in the middle and nice and crisp on the edges.
Hummingbird Pudding Cake
This is so moist, it had to be called a pudding cake. The combination of bananas, pineapple, crunchy pecans, and tangy cream cheese are super comforting. Plus icing a snack cake is so much easier than frosting a layer cake!
Maple Walnut Blondies
It took a few tries to get the perfect balance of moist, brownie-like texture with lots of maple flavor, but in the end it was worth it. It's the perfect bar cookie for maple syrup season.
