Papa John's has a new dessert on the menu: an 8-inch, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie that's cut into slices, just like a pizza. The Mega Chocolate Chip Cookie is $5 with any pizza purchase, but I was able to snag one for the same price without bothering with a pie.

As far as chocolate chip cookies go, this one checks all of the important boxes: it's warm, full of melted chocolate chips, and has a tantalizing aroma that sneaks through the vents in the box, crippling your willpower before you even get the first bite in your mouth.

Texture-wise, it's moist and chewy in the middle, crisp on top and on the bottom, and crunchy around the outside edge. It's best warm, ideally with a scoop of ice cream, but even when it's completely cooled, the cookie still remains pleasantly soft and chewy. Yep, you'll be eating the entire thing.

The cookies are made from dough that's pre-packed in foil pie plates then baked in the pizza oven for about 8 minutes. Judging by the flavor, I'm guessing the dough is sourced directly from Tollhouse or another mass-manufacturer of cookie dough. It's not quite as tasty as a fresh-baked, homemade cookie, but it's a lot better than anything you'll find bagged in the cookie aisle. For $5, I say go for it.
