In Savannah, classic Southern sweets like pecan pie and key lime pie dominate most dessert menus, but that's not the case at A.lure, where you'll find more inspired options like pineapple polenta upside down cake, butternut squash cheesecake, and frozen goat cheese soufflé—a sweet, cheesy, and creamy cold dessert filled with passionfruit curd and topped with house-made blackberry-lemon sorbet and a honey tuile.
I stopped by on what turned out to be chef Michah Newman's first day on the job. He's been with the restaurant since it opened, and was formerly the sous-chef. Michah says he'll eventually be updating the dessert menu with some new items, but the frozen goat cheese soufflé will be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
