Pumpkin butter is one of my favorite fall indulgences, whether I'm slathering it on my morning toast, spooning it into my yogurt, or even eating it straight from the jar. It can be hard to find great supermarket versions, though, so usually a farmer's market is your best bet.
Unless you're feeling crafty, that is, in which case homemade pumpkin butter can't be beat. This version is lighter in flavor than traditional versions, with a delicate honey sweetness and pronounced zing from the fresh ginger. Adding grated apples imparts fruity notes and cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove give it the quintessential taste of fall.
