The muffin top episode of Seinfeld has become pretty iconic, but it's worth revisiting Elaine's words of wisdom when describing why muffin tops are the superior part of the muffin: "It's crunchy. It's explosive. It's where the muffin breaks free of the pan and does its own thing."
Well, I take your muffin top and raise you a muffin top cookie (I personally refuse to play into today's portmanteau loving culture and call it a mookie, but do what you must). These cookies are muffin-like in that they are vanilla-scented and buttery with a cake-like crumb. Like a good chocolate chip cookie, though, the edges get crisp but the middles stay soft. In fact that episode might have ended differently if, instead of having to dispose of the muffin stumps, Elaine had these babies up her sleeve. I guess the world will never know.
