At first glance, this hole-in-the-wall looks like a combination restaurant and bubble tea stand. But they also offer an overwhelming number of toppings for Taiwanese shaved iced. Choose from items like lemongrass jelly, mango custard, honeydew melon, and red beans. After choosing four toppings, more ice is added and drizzled with sweetened condensed milk and brown sugar syrup.
Popsicles from The Popcycle
Lindsey Byrd sells some of the most creative popsicles in Austin from her tricycle with an attached cooler. This Culinary Academy of California graduate recently returned from a stint working in restaurants in Mexico where she also studied the art of making paletas. Available in flavors like black sesame, honey peach, and buttermilk lemon thyme, each pop is made and packaged by hand.

Halo-Halo at Filipino Asian Mart
Who knew an authentic version of the famous Filipino dessert is available right here in Austin? This tiny Filipino grocery store hidden in a strip mall is well known for its chicken adobo, but the friendly owner will also make you a huge halo-halo for dessert. Shaved iced and evaporated milk is layered with candied beans, jackfruit, and gulaman, and topped with a scoop of ube ice cream and rich flan.
Tres Leches Ice Cream with Cardamon Toasted Coconut at Ice Cream Social
This food truck parked in a South Congress Avenue pizzeria parking lot is producing some of the best American style ice creams in Austin. Their short menu of flavors includes an extremely balanced and creamy tres leches. The crunchy topping of cardamon toasted coconut perfectly complements the ice cream's subtle caramel flavor. The addition of strawberry fruit compote adds some brightness while elevating the dessert to another level.
Roasted Banana and Brown Sugar Milkshake at 24 Diner
24 Diner is known for their comfort food, and that includes milkshakes. Their shakes have the perfect texture—they can easily be sipped through a straw without being too thin. The roasted banana milkshake was like frozen banana pudding crowned with a fluffy peak of whipped cream dusted in cinnamon.
Patbingsu at Tous Les Jours
This Korean bakery has plenty of sweet treats including cakes, doughnuts, and pastries, but this frozen dessert is only available on weekends. Shaved ice comes in flavors like green tea or red bean, and it's topped with candied red beans, evaporated milk, mochi, sliced almond, and a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream.
