The ingredients are remarkably simple: powdered sugar and egg whites, plus 2-3 drops of food coloring. You can always use pasteurized egg whites if you don't trust your real ones. The proportions don't need to be exact; you'll be tweaking it as you go.

You'll have to eyeball the consistency and adjust accordingly, adding more powdered sugar or egg white as needed...

The mixture should begin to thicken with the additional sugar.

You know that the consistency is perfect when a drizzle of the mixture can hold its shape instead of disappearing back into the bowl.

Once the almost-sprinkles are dry, you can use a spatula or any other implement of your choosing to break up them up into large chunks.
