Slideshow: Best Sweets We Ate In February

Steamed Milk Pudding from Yee Shun Milk Company in Hong Kong
Steamed Milk Pudding from Yee Shun Milk Company in Hong Kong

"Steamed milk pudding tastes pretty much what it sounds like: sweet milk in silky, douhua-soft pudding form. I regret I only got to eat it once during my recent trip press trip to Hong Kong (posts about the trip coming soon!)." —Robyn Lee, AHT Editor and Photographer

Bouchon Bakery's Kouign Amann
Bouchon Bakery's Kouign Amann
"Bouchon Bakery recently introduced a kouign amann of its own, and it's pretty awesome: a deeply caramelized crust with dense buttery pastry inside. A proud addition to NYC's growing kouign amann offerings."—Max Falkowitz, New York Editor

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut from BabyCakes, NYC
Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut from BabyCakes, NYC
"Being vegan for a month = no butter or eggs = a notable decline in my baked goods consumption. I'm not even the biggest sweet tooth person but knowing that I couldn't just grab a cookie whenever I needed to (and sometimes you just need to) was a little disheartening. Thankfully there exists a vegan bakery called Babycakes, and I'd go there even if it wasn't Vegan Month, especially for the doughnuts. Coated in cinnamon-sugar, they're crumbly and soft and not at all "vegan-tasting." The mini size is friendly too. Thank you Carrie for bringing me leftovers from your photo shoot!"—Erin Zimmer, National Managing Editor

Salted Cashew Caramel Bars / Chili Lime Sorbet from Humphry Slocombe, in SF
"So I thought that these bars would definitely win as best sweet of the month, given that I love the sweet-salty-gooey-crunchy-tenderness of them. But then I had a cone of lime chili sorbet from Humphry Slocombe. The flavor was unbelievable—so bright and refreshing while actually having spice and a good dose of sweetness. It's my favorite HS flavor to date, which is saying a lot."—Carrie Vasios, Sweets Editor

Caramelized Cardamom Brioche at Outerlands, San Francisco
Caramelized Cardamom Brioche at Outerlands, San Francisco
"Since the bread at Outerlands is quite delicious, it's no surprise that it works in dessert form too, but this was killer: crisp-caramelized croutons (essentially) of cardamom-flavored brioche, served with luscious meyer lemon curd and black pepper meringue. Hit all the textures and the flavors really popped."—Maggie Hoffman, Drinks Editor

"I keep dreaming about the ginger molasses cookies I made for Valentine's Day! The recipe is very similar to these; it's from the back of the molasses jar."—Jessica Leibowitz, Videographer
