Since 1997, both tourists and New Yorkers alike have stopped at a white-walled shop in Chelsea Market, drawn in by the bursts of color coming from plates of brightly decorated cookies. That shop is Eleni's, and those "conversation cookies" have become what Eleni's is best known for—not in the least because it's incredibly hard to find adorably decorated cookies that actually taste as good as they look.

So you might be surprised to learn that Eleni's started as a catering business based on owner Eleni Gianopulos's mother's recipe for Oatmeal Raisin cookies. Those big chewy cookies are available at the bakery, in addition to cupcakes, crispy cookies, and more. Torn about what to order? Don't worry, we've got 5 must-try items picked by Eleni herself.
