Bake the Book: Good Morning Sunshine Bars

Every now and then there's a dessert so simple, yet so powerful, you eat the whole tray by yourself in the middle of the night. But seriously, the Good Morning Sunshine Bars fromBaked Elements: Our 10 Favorite Ingredients are an unpretentious treat that uses the holy trifecta of peanuts, chocolate, and caramel to evoke childhood and happy memories in every bite.
Tips: Any confection process involving caramel is going to be messy. Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to mix, and a silicone spatula will get every drop out and into the pan. Be careful not to over boil the caramel mixture; one minute is a good minute.
Tweaks: The bars are simple and smart enough to not need improvement. But you can play around with the type of chocolate drizzled on top—something a little darker than the recommended milk chocolate would be good.
