It's heartening to hear that Dawn Casale and David Crofton, authors of One Girl Cookies aren't fans of using the word "decadent" when describing desserts, because desserts are (or at least should be) always decadent.

So what are they doing with a recipe for Decadent Chocolate Coins? Well, these cookies are pretty darned decadent. Not in an over the top, big giant ice cream sundae way, but in a way that has everything to do with deep chocolaty flavor and crisp, elegant texture. The cookies are enlivened with a bit of orange zest which brings out the fruity aspects of the chocolate in a way that's really kind of beautiful.

And although it's not included in the recipe, you can make your Decadent Chocolate Coins sparkle by adding a sprinkle of natural brown sugar to the tops just before baking.
