Sweet Finds: Yoku Moku's Cinq Délices

When I was growing up in Hawai'i, Yoku Moku was the sweet to gift for any occasion. Hostess present, welcome home gifts, Christmas presents, every event was Yoku Moku-appropriate. Their signature tins feature individually wrapped cookies, and the most famous of them all is the Cigare, a long and thin rolled butter cookie with the faintest hint of vanilla. It's crumble-in-your-mouth delicate, barely sweet; simultaneously indulgent and light.
All Yoku Moku cookies are made with natural ingredients and no preservatives. The best way to get a taste for all the flavors is with the Yoku Moku Cinq Délices (pictured above), a sampling of five different cookies including the aforementioned Cigare along with the excellent Bateau de Macadamia, a double layered shortbread cookie with a creamy lick of milk chocolate in the center and crushed macadamia nuts over the top. White chocolate fans will certainly fall for Double Chocolat Blanc—the rectangular cookie is doubled over with a spread of white chocolate. They do the same with milk chocolate for the Double Chocolat au Lait. The Billet aux Amades is another classic—just perfectly simple butter cookies finished with slivered almonds. If you take a particular liking to any one variety, keep in mind that they also sells sets of the individual flavors. Since I can't decide on just one favorite, the assortment set will forever be my go-to Yoku Moku tin.
